The Stewardship Code In India And UK

Dev Singh Sawhney, OP Jindal Global University

ABSTRACT

This paper will be looking at the Stewardship code, 2019 that was introduced in the United Kingdom and whether this direct transposition from the United Kingdom to India is a viable option or not. The paper would also be looking at the primary intent behind the legislation which is directly in favor of the stakeholders and whether it is profitable for the shareholder to accommodate the interests of the stakeholders even after the absence of a fiduciary duty to do so.
