The country of India, which is multicultural and has a rich history, has long grappled with unfair marriage laws that disproportionately harm some religious communities. The requirement for a unified civil code (UCC) has grown in popularity as a potential remedy for this problem. By establishing a single set of civil laws to replace the current personal laws, a UCC seeks to provide justice and equality for all citizens. In this essay, the idea of UCC is examined in relation to its ability to promote social cohesion and respect the values of justice while also addressing the issue of biased marriage-based legislation in India. The serious problem of gender inequality in Indian marriage laws has long been the focus of discussion and worry.
