UNCITRAL & Alternative Dispute Resolution

Bela Kulkarni, Symbiosis Law School, Pune

ABSTRACT

International commercial dispute resolution has changed and improved dramatically over the last few decades. A major characteristic has been a shift away from traditional court-based litigation, allowing for the investigation of alternative approaches and strategies. In the evolution of alternative dispute resolution, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law ('UNCITRAL') has played a key role. UNCITRAL has considered enhancing international business dispute resolution one of its top missions since its inception in 1966. This analysis will give in-depth information about how UNCITRAL is related to the 3 ADR mechanisms.
