The Equality Act of 2010 is the law that states that people cannot be discriminated against. Discrimination in violation of the Equality Act is illegal. This means we'll be able to file a lawsuit in civil court. When someone treats you badly or harms you because you complain about discrimination or support someone who has been discriminated against, you are being victimised. This is called victimisation. Because of Equality Act, some people are hesitant and may be worry about complaining, people have extra legal protection when they complain about discrimination. Another important element in the process of victimisation, is the detriment. Detriment means a person has suffered a disadvantage of some sort or have been put in a worse position than they were before.
