ABSTRACT
The rights of women have always been a controversial topic since the history and uptill the present in the field of law, politics, and society, showing up the struggle for equality, dignity and discrimination that prevails in our society. This research paper contains the historical evolution. In this research paper a historical development of the issue of women rights, law, and modern issues have been discussed and analyzed. It identifies the central role of international conventions like the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), as well as constitutional guarantees and laws that are geared towards guaranteeing gender justice. Although there has been a massive improvement in certain sectors such as education, political participation, and equality at workplace, the article highlights the existing gap in the execution, especially in dealing with gender-based violence, inequality of wages and obstacles to roles of making decisions. The paper has critically assessed the intersectional quality of discrimination whereby the factors of caste, class, religion, and economic status tend to make women more marginalized. Using the case studies, policy analysis and judicial interpretations, the study highlights both the success and failure to advance the rights of women. In addition, it suggests that legal provisions cannot be effective unless there is some kind of social awareness, cultural transformation or empowerment initiatives. The article concludes by recommending a multi-dimensional strategy that would integrate law, education and activism to achieve an environment where women can enjoy their rights to the end. This way, it is enhancing the existing debate on gender equality and to strengthen the importance of long-term dedication to women empowerment as the pillar of democratic progress and social equality.
