Impact Analysis Of White Collar Crimes

Mr N. Meenakshisundaram, Assistant Professor, Government Law College, Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, India

Introduction

The people of India convinced themselves to live with corruption, tolerate the menace of the white color crimes, and accept the leaders and politicians with their abuse of authority vested with them. People lost their sense of reasoning to understand what type of society they lived in and what was happening around them. They are put into the illusion of false hope that they are heading towards prosperity, but in reality, they have doomed themselves by their ignorance.

A Crime Committed by the privileged class of society or a crime committed by the influential persons of the community is known as a white color crime.1 The dimension of this crime is associated with bureaucrats, religious leaders, various organizations, and various professionals2. When a person has a privilege, the privilege includes discretionary power, so we can assume that wherever the privilege exists, there is an abuse of discretionary power; when there is an abuse of discretionary power, there would be deviant behavior, which leads to criminality. To maintain their control and post, the privileged groups3 need money. In addition, for cash, they started grabbing more and more public money during their occupational, official, professional, political, and social activities and became part of the White Color Crimes. This concept has its origin in the idea of white color deviance, which includes both corporate and occupational deviance.
