ABSTRACT
Deepfake technology, driven by advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, has emerged as a powerful tool for synthesizing hyper-realistic multimedia content, such as images, videos, and audio recordings. The historical narrative begins with the roots of deep learning in the early 2010s and traces the rapid development of face-swapping applications that paved the way for the rise of deepfakes. The ethical implications are scrutinized, with a particular focus on issues such as non-consensual deepfake pornography, identity theft, and political manipulation. This research paper explores the multifaceted landscape of deepfake technology, investigating its implications across various domains and addressing if there is a legal vacuum. Ultimately, the paper aims to foster a deeper understanding of the ethical dimensions of deepfake technology and inform future discussions on regulatory frameworks and best practices in its development and application.
