Public Opinion On Invisible Victims And Their Status Of Access To Social Justice For Women With Disabilities In India With Special Reference To Chennai

ABSTRACT
Even today many women and girls with disabilities experience marginalisation as well as mental and social barriers that result in lower economic and social status. There is an increased risk of abuse and violence, including sexual abuse, discrimination as well as harmful gender-based discriminatory practises, and barriers to accessing justice, information, and services, education, health care, including sexual and reproductive health, and civic and political participation. They are unable to participate equally with others because of this. The research methodology adopted by the researcher is empirical research. The Primary sources that are collected from the general public through questionnaires and the secondary data includes journal, articles and other online resources. The samples of this study is collected through Convenient Sampling. The sample size is 205. The variables used in this study are : Independent variables such as age , gender, education qualifications, area of residence; Dependent variables are Experience of double discrimination by women and girls with disabilities, problem in sexual and reproductive adulthood , Level of awareness about the Rights of the Person with Disability Act and it’s aid to curb ill treatment , Effective implement of Governmental policies and schemes, Factors impeding the access to Justice, Suggestion to sort out such hindrances. The study reveals that women with disability face double discrimination, it may be due to economical barriers. The women with disabilities are mostly subjected to sexual abuse. The study suggested that implementation of monitoring and enforcement machinery could reduce the rate of violence against disabled women.
