Objective:

The objective of this research is to investigate the ethical and legal ramifications of medical and diagnostic errors, as well as how they affect patient safety and liability of the service/ healthcare provider.

Research Questions:

  • What moral and legal standards apply to errors made in diagnosing patients and prescribing medications

  • What effects do medical errors have on patient safety, the standard of treatment, and healthcare costs?

  • What are the methods used in the investigation and reporting of medical errors, and what part does patient and provider responsibility play in correcting errors?

  • What ethical issues should be taken into account when addressing medical errors through legal and regulatory frameworks?
