Substance Abuse And Crime: Investigating The Connection Between Drugs And Criminal Behaviour

ABSTRACT


The article explores substance abuse connections to criminal actions under current Indian circumstances. The article provides an analysis of how drug dependence leads to criminal behaviour that either triggers start new crimes or intensifies existing criminal actions. This research explores substance abuse connection to different crime ranges through combination of Indian legal framework and criminology theories and existing research materials. It evaluates how drug abuse produces direct and roundabout paths to violent crimes and property crimes as well as drug-related criminal activity. The analysis probes the combination of socio-economic elements which commonly link substance abuse to criminal behaviours thus forming intricate danger patterns. This article performs an analysis of existing Indian legislation and policies designed to handle these concerns while identifying their both pros and cons. The study presents several options for future research and policy implementation which aim to lessen the damaging effects of substance abuse on criminal statistics and public security concerns across India.
