Zaree Shahnaz & Janees Rafiq, Model Institute of Engineering &Technology, Jammu

ABSTRACT

AI allows the society to make better decisions, optimize and innovate various processes but this also gives rise to issues regarding data privacy, algorithmic bias, and ethics of accountability. Since AI systems require lots of data, legal concepts of consent and data minimization are absolutely necessary to protect one’s privacy. Legal frameworks (like the General Data Protection Regulation) avoiding the misuse of the data provides adherence to laws. Another problem is that biases in algorithms of the AI systems reinforce the biases existing in the society which is more prevalent in highly sensitive areas like childcare, law enforcement, hiring sectors and even in health care systems. Hence, the approach to such problems is the building of nonbiased systems, regular audits of AI applications, and compensation of damages caused by its use became necessary. This paper considers the ethical problems related to AI use, and Readiness for Legal Adoption-compliance measures supporting AI development. Some recommendations are suggestion to accept most of the principles of GDPR, create other laws related to AI which include transparency and accountability.
